The glare from other vehicles' headlights can be blinding, which naturally makes driving around Charlotte dangerous at night. Fortunately, many of the vehicles available at Hendrick MINI come equipped with auto-dimming rearview mirrors that can reduce the glare from headlights and keep you a little safer at night.

Auto-dimming rearview mirrors work by relying on sensors that detect glare from other headlights. When this glare becomes too bright, the sensors in a mirror release a charge through an electrochromic gel located between the layers of glass that make up a mirror. The gel darkens through a process called electrochromism, which dims the mirror and reduces the glare from other headlights. It's a fascinating technology that has become very popular in many vehicles since it first started to gain traction in the 1980s. Many of the vehicles in our inventory come equipped with auto-dimming mirrors, so contact us if you're interested in test-driving one.
